ShakeCommand is a web-based earthquake early warning system designed for organizations. It issues real-time alerts, enhances situational awareness, and improves preparedness for seismic events. By integrating with SeismicAI’s advanced detection technology, ShakeCommand ensures organizations can take proactive safety measures when an earthquake occurs.
SeismicAI’s earthquake early warning system leverages a network of regional seismic sensors to accurately and reliably detect earthquakes. When an earthquake occurs, the algorithm calculates the expected Peak Ground Acceleration (PGA) for each customer site individually. Since these calculations are site-specific, different locations within the same organization may receive different alert thresholds based on their projected impact.
1. Getting Started
1. What types of sites can be configured in ShakeCommand?
ShakeCommand supports two types of sites:
- Virtual Sites – These sites do not have a physical connection to ShakeLink IoT solution. They receive alerts based on SeismicAI’s algorithm, which estimates the expected ground shaking at the site.
- Physical Sites – These sites integrate with local sensors (MEMS-based accelerometers), allowing for real-time shaking measurements and enabling the generation of Post-Event Reports.
2. How are sites configured in ShakeCommand?
Sites are configured by the SeismicAI team during the onboarding process using latitude and longitude coordinates. Users cannot create or edit sites directly in ShakeCommand. If a new site needs to be added or an existing one modified, please contact SeismicAI’s support team.
3. Does ShakeCommand require an Internet connection to work?
Yes, ShakeCommand relies on a continuous Internet connection to receive real-time alerts. Additionally, the ShakeCommand web application must remain open in an active browser tab to ensure notifications are delivered without delay.
2. Core Features
1. How does ShakeCommand issue alerts on earthquakes?
ShakeCommand displays earthquake early warnings through an audiovisual notifications in the web app, showing two types of alerts:
- A visual alert appears on the screen, dynamically adjusting the home screen map to display the earthquake’s epicenter and the impacted sites. Each site is color-coded based on its alert threshold and projected impact.
- An audio alarm is played through the system’s speakers to ensure immediate awareness.
2. Can ShakeCommand handle multiple simultaneous earthquakes?
Yes. If more than one earthquake occurs at the same time, ShakeCommand will notify users of each event separately. This ensures that no critical information is overlooked and that organizations are fully aware of all seismic activity that may affect their operations.
3. What should I do when an alert is triggered?
When an earthquake alert is received, users should:
- Follow their organization's emergency response plan.
- Take personal safety precautions in line with local safety guidelines (e.g. taking cover under a sturdy object, moving away from windows).
ShakeCommand provides real-time alerts, but it is the responsibility of the organization and its personnel to take appropriate action based on internal emergency protocols.
4. Can I view past earthquake events in ShakeCommand?
Yes. ShakeCommand allows you to review past earthquake events and analyze how those events affected your organization. The Activity Log and Post-Event Reports (if enabled) provide valuable historical data for debriefing and improving emergency response strategies.
5. How does the system handle testing and monitoring of alert units?
To maintain readiness, ShakeCommand includes a Testing Functionality that allows users to trigger test alerts for ShakeLink IoT solution units. This ensures that all connected systems are operational and prepared for real events.
3. User Management & System Requirements
1. Who can use ShakeCommand?
ShakeCommand is designed for security managers, control room operators, and site managers.
2. Can users create or modify sites in ShakeCommand?
No. Users cannot create or modify sites directly within ShakeCommand. Site configurations (such as adding new locations or adjusting parameters) should be requested through SeismicAI’s support team.
3. What are the system requirements for ShakeCommand
- A stable Internet connection is required to receive alerts.
- The ShakeCommand web application must remain open in an active browser tab.
Without these conditions, real-time notifications may not be received.
4. Where can I find pricing requirements for ShakeCommand?
Organizations can contact SeismicAI for inquiries regarding custom solutions and enterprise deployments at info@seismicai.com
4. Support & Troubleshooting
1. What should I do if I'm not receiving alerts from ShakeCommand?
If ShakeCommand is not delivering alerts, check the following:
- Ensure your Internet connection is stable.
- Verify that the ShakeCommand web application is open in an active browser tab.
- Contact SeismicAI support if the issue persists.
2. How can I contact SeismicAI for support and troubleshooting?
Users can contact SeismicAI’s support team through the “Contact Us” section in ShakeCommand for any inquiries, technical issues, or assistance with site configurations. You can also email SeismicAI at info@seismicai.com.
